Thrift Thursday – Thrifted Artwork

Recently I had a garage sale and as I was donating leftovers to the ABVI Goodwill, I of course had to go in and see what treasures lurked within. The very first thing that caught my eye was this very large framed serigraph. At the time, it was hiding behind a stack of uninteresting frames and as I flipped each one forward to see what was in the next frame I stopped when I got to this one. The bold, graphic 60’s style and colors caught my eye and as I looked closer I noticed that it was signed and numbered and appeared to be in it’s original frame with the sticker from the gallery it came from still stuck to the back.
I decided that it was worth the $11.99 price tag and took it home with me. As I googled away trying to find out more about this print, it took me awhile to figure it out, but the artist is Warren Woodward who was big on making these serigraphs in the 50’s and 60’s in Los Angeles where he once had his own gallery called WW GALLERY. As far as I can tell the going rate on ebay and elsewhere for his serigraphs are between $200 – $500 dollars so I’d say it was a pretty good find. I may sell it if I can’t find a good spot for it in my home, I haven’t quite figured it out yet.
